The River of No Return Trout Unlimited

The RNRTU chapter is based in Salmon Idaho, home to the rugged country of central Idaho and the Frank Church Wilderness Area. The Salmon River is also called the River of No Return and remains a 425 mile long, free flowing river. It is the second deepest canyon in North America and home to Sockeye salmon (endangered), Chinook salmon (threatened) and steelhead (threatened). These are some of furthest inland migrating fish in the world, traveling up to 900 miles and 7,000 feet in elevation, to the remote headwaters of the Salmon River. Other resident fish include cutthroat trout, bull trout, rainbow trout, mountain white fish, smallmouth bass, suckers, sturgeon and pacific lamprey.

Since time immemorial, Indigenous people have continued their connection to the salmon that return to Idaho waters. We honor this deep relationship and commitment to the future of this region.
